In 2000, the Restaurant Association of Maryland established a “Hospitality
Hall of Honor” to recognize those industry leaders who have exhibited hard work, dedication, courage and creativity while representing the Hospitality Industry in Maryland. Tonight’s five Hall of Honor inductees all live up to the high standards set by each and every

one of our previous year’s inductees.

In 1946 Captain Bill Harris started a seafood processing business at the Kent Narrows on the Eastern Shore. The Harris clan, as we refer to them, joined the ranks in the 1970’s, Jerry & Pat Harris and Karen & Art Oertel. In June of 1981 a small crab house was started on the front of the

processing house.

Our knowledge of seafood helped to make the crab house a success as well as the family nvolvement, kids, grand kids and great grand kids. Our hands on management style, buying, the grading an cooking of crabs all lend to our success. In 1991 the Harris clan decided to expand and built the new crab house next to the processing house. Our knowledge of seafood continues to offer the best in seafood with an Eastern Shore experience that our clients continue to enjoy. Along with the local clientele and those from the western shore, our clientele come from across the Mid-Atlantic by road and water. All seem to enjoy the casual, fun and friendly atmosphere as well as the good food offered at Harris Crab House.
