Over the past 20 years, as successful African American professionals have turned Prince George’s County into the nation’s richest majority-black suburban enclave, Martini’s Lounge and Club Elite have become landmark entertainment venues for this group’s dining, dancing and dating. “We exemplify the splendor and
grandeur of the African American
experience,” says Norman “Doc” Hayes, who operates behind the scene at Martini’s and Club Elite. For almost two decades, Hayes’ nightspots have been the places etched into minds of club-goers as “the urban experience” to excite their senses, ignite their imagination and satisfy their palates.
Over the past decade, the area’s
“over-30” African American nightlife
set has established Martini’s as an
upscale place for jazz, R&B and
networking. A well-recognized fund-raiser, Hayes been successful in having regular, across-party sets at his clubs that have included: Maryland
Lt. Gov. Michael Steele, US
Representative Al Wynn, County Council Chair Tony Knotts, State
Senator C. Anthony Muse, Ulysses Currie and scores more. He speaks proudly of putting money and
resources back into the local
community through his At Night Group LLC hospitality and
entertainment management’s food banks and work with local churches.
