In 2000, the Restaurant Association of Maryland established a “Hospitality
Hall of Honor” to recognize those industry leaders who have exhibited hard work, dedication, courage and creativity while representing the Hospitality Industry in Maryland. Tonight’s five Hall of Honor inductees all live up to the high standards set by each and every

one of our previous year’s inductees.

La Hacienda owner Bill Herbst moved to Ocean City from Bethesda, Maryland in 1978 in search of a location for a Mexican restaurant, he was not alone, his former partner was operating a successful restaurant in Washington, D.C. In June of 1979, La Hacienda opened its doors for business. After a slow beginning, the restaurant weathered a few tough years and long hours, the poverty level

was breached.

Ten years later, La Hacienda expanded from 85 seats to 140 seats and is now one of Ocean City’s most popular dining spots, this mainly because Bill is fortunate to have one of the BEST restaurant staffs in town. Always friendly and cheerful, he could not operate without them. They try to make every guest feel special.
