In 2000, the Restaurant Association of Maryland established a “Hospitality
Hall of Honor” to recognize those industry leaders who have exhibited hard work, dedication, courage and creativity while representing the Hospitality Industry in Maryland. Tonight’s five Hall of Honor inductees all live up to the high standards set by each and every

one of our previous year’s inductees.

~ Lista's Southwest Grill ~

Lista’s originated in Applewood, Colorado in 1974. Felix, Ruben’s older brother and his wife, opened the family restaurant in a small space in a shoppette. Ruben who learned his art at a very young age from his father, International Chef, Florencio Evangelista quickly became Lista’s chef. Ruben’s talent firmly established Lista’s as one of the most popular local restaurants in Denver.

Kathy came to work at Lista’s in 1983 and a year later Ruben and Kathy married in the restaurant and shortly after moved to Virginia Beach to open their first Lista’s. Within ten years Lista’s had outgrown two buildings and in searching for a larger place, decided to settle near Kathy’s Mom and family in Fells Point, Maryland. They opened a 450 seat Lista’s which enjoyed overnight popularity.

Lista’s has received numerous awards for great food and service. It is known for consistency, high quality and people who love their jobs and their customers.
