The Cornerstone Award is given to the individual or company who best illustrates that the Foodservice Industry stands as the cornerstone of the community and the economy. Their successful businesses support their local communities by creating multiple job opportunities, and by financially supporting non-profit groups, schools, scouts, and youth sports teams. Recipients have also contributed greatly to the State’s healthy economy—creating jobs, purchasing goods, and paying innumerable taxes and license fees.

Roy Rogers is owned and operated by Plamondon Enterprises, Inc., based in Frederick, Maryland. As one of the leading hospitality enterprises in the state, this family-run business got its start in the hospitality industry in 1980 when it opened its first Roy Rogers franchise in Frederick, Maryland. Over 25 years ago, Peter Plamondon,
Sr. opened his first Roy Rogers Restaurant, after developing a love for the brand which he helped create and launch in 1968, while serving as an executive of Marriott Corporation. Since then, sons Peter, Jr. and Jim have joined the business and now own the company, with Peter, Sr. serving as Chairman. In theirpartnership between business and nonprofits, Roy Rogers Restaurants teams up with a different local school or civic group for “Family Nights” each week. That week’s selected nonprofit then receives a check for 25% of all sales from the evening. This has raised more than $54,850 in recent years.
