The nominee is an executive chef or chef de cuisine who demonstrates consistent standards of excellence and serves as an inspiration to other food professionals. The nominee displays a dedication to the artistry of food, exhibits an ongoing commitment to the community and may be from any type of establishment. The nominee must have been a chef for the past five

years with a minimum of two years in Maryland by January 1, 2007.

~ Chef Maurisee Upshur ~   Mrs K's Toll House

Chef Upshur has been a part of Mrs. K’s for the past ten years. She acquired her passion for food from her foremost culinary influence, her mother. Chef Upshur’s Caribbean roots and acquired European and U.S. skills bring an exciting flair to her culinary palate.

A strong passion for cooking led her to the Baltimore International College in pursuit of a career as a Chef. Taking her to The Pontchartrain Hotel in New Orleans , LA where she worked in all areas of the kitchen. Maurisee’s most recent award was for Best Crab Cake in the DC Metro area.
