This annual award acknowledges successful restaurant owner(s) who show originality, quality, and superior service in all aspects of their business. The Restaurateur of the Year is recognized by his/her peers, employees and the community for their contributions to the Hospitality Industry and who, by their actions, brings honor to the profession.

The current Café Hon opened it’s doors in October 1995. It relocated into a recently closed hardware store that had been there fore more than 100 years. With Denise’s vision and the help of a few friends and family, with all the money that could be scraped together, along with some borrowed restaurant equipment, the renovation revealed something more than a restaurant, it was now a Café…Hon!

A “Bawlmer” icon located in the heart of Hampden. You’ll find yourself surrounded by an eclectic collection of memorabilia. Always keeping in touch with the folks from the Hampden neighborhood, it’s a familiar stop for locals. Now, it’s caught the eye of a Nation. Café Hon has been recognized in countless local and national publications. Not far from “Baltimore’s Television Hill” don’t be surprised to find yourself dining in the same Café with local and other famous celebrities. Now, just through a set of inside, (or outside) doors, you can be in the HON BAR! It just keeps getting better…Hon!
